![]() State Trail The trail offers incomparable year-round opportunities for jogging, hiking, biking, horseback riding, snowmobiling and cross country skiing through a countryside of lakes, marshes, farm fields and pastures. The trail begins in Plymouth and runs west through the heart of Watertown to Hutchinson and beyond. Canoeing ![]() Golf City Parks Rick Johnson Memorial Park is nestled along the Crow River and is a perfect setting for fishing, canoeing or a picnic lunch. Highland Park provides a wide variety of uses for people of all ages - a baseball field for town team, Legion and Little League games; horseshoe pits; recreation equipment for kids; and shaded picnic areas. A hockey rink and free skating rink is located on the east side of the city. Evergreen Park features four regulation fields for both softball and Little League games. The complex was funded by generous contributions from the Watertown Lions Club and Watertown American Legion Post 121. Community Events During the school year, high school sports, music and dramatic activities offer a unique opportunity to see young people display their talents. Churches give seasonal concerts and programs which are open to the public. A Christian Music Festival is also held each summer and draws talented musicians and vocalists from the area. In addition, Watertown Friends of the Arts sponsors seasonal concerts held at various locations throughout the community. Nature Reserves Area Lakes Swimming beaches can be found on many of the lakes, including Waconia, Minnetonka, Rebecca, and Independence. Anglers will find a wide variety of game fish waiting for the right bait in these lakes. Metro Entertainment Walker Art Center, Guthrie Theatre, Minnesota Orchestra, Minneapolis Institute of Arts, Minnesota Science Museum and Omni Theatre, Minnesota History Center, University of Minnesota, Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome, Target Center, Valley Fair amusement park, Minnesota Zoological Gardens, Como Park Zoo, Chanhassen Dinner Theatre, St. Paul RiverCentre, and Mall of America are some of the entertainment centers in the metro area. |
